In Australia there is no government regulation of the massage industry as such. Anyone can call themselves a massage therapist and practice massage therapy for a living with no governmental requirements to do so.

However most insurance companies won’t cover you unless you have completed formal training. The companies we list here later on cover therapists that we have trained in the practice of Raynor massage.

In Australia, there is such a thing as government recognised training and Certification. This is not a requirement to practice but if you want to work with health funds by being able to give their clients health care rebates then you need to have the Government Cert IV in Massage or the government Diploma of Remedial Massage.

This usually takes between 6 months and a year to get the Certificate IV in massage and between one and two years for the Diploma of Remedial Massage. The cost of these courses at most schools is around $5000 to $8000 for the Certificate and about $8000 to $12000 for the Diploma. We have a much more affordable and quicker way to get this qualification. We work with Health Schools Australia, where Brandon studied Naturopathy in the early 1990s to get these qualifications to you quicker.

Stephen, Eddey, the principal of Health Schools Australia recognises that the practical aspect of the training that we provide in our Certificate in Raynor Naturopathic Massage is much higher than the government standard of massage therapy required for the government Cert IV in massage. Therefore he gives Recognition of Prior Learning for all the practical aspects of the Government Cert IV in massage and then you just have to complete the theory components by correspondence with his school. In other words even though our course is only one week long you get RPL for about the equivalent of 6 weeks to 8 weeks  of practical  training at another college. This is because of the high quality of training we offer.

Similarly with The Diploma of Raynor Naturopathic Massage you will get RPL for all the practical aspects of the Government Diploma of Remedial Massage with Health Schools Australia. You would then complete the theory at your own time in your own home by correspondence with Health Schools Australia..

Not only that but if you have done any other training before in subjects like anatomy and physiology or ever run your own business you can get RPL for these subjects too. So nurses, for example, who complete our course do not have to do any other training with Health Schools Australia in order to get the government accredited qualification as well as our private accreditation. Personal trainers and other health professionals may also be exempt from having to complete any more courses.

So in this way you can get government qualified as well as privately qualified much quicker than attending most other colleges and at about 50% or less of the cost depending on your other qualifications etc. You may also be entitled to receive Austudy when you study with Health Schools Australia for the theory components of the Government course.

Not only that but you can get started working straight away after doing our course with our private Industry certification and get insured etc. Many people choose not to get Government qualifications as the extra time and cost may not be worth it just to give Health Care rebates as only about 30% of people can get rebates for massage anyway and if a person is a good practitioner people will come back because of the quality of the treatment.

So whether you decide to go on and get government accredited you can practice right away after completing our course and you can get insured . Here is alist of Insurnace companies in Australia that cover our graduates.
