Brandon Raynor’s School of Natural Therapies offers Raynor Massage Certificate Course and Raynor Massage Diploma Courses in Darwin on a regular basis.
Brandon Raynor started teaching Remedial massage courses in Sydney in 1998, after he was working in Herbal Solutions Massage and Natural Therapy Centre in Bondi Beach, and had many people ask him where they could learn to massage in the same way that he did. He was very well known for his strong and deep form of massage that used acupressure and breathing techniques to achieve a very deep and strong state of deep relaxation, emotional release and tension release in his clients.
Brandon had actually started to learn to massage in 1991, while living in Sydney, completing his Diploma of Remedial Massage with Health Schools Australia. He went on to do a Zen Shiatsu course at the Shiatsu Ryoho college in 1992 and found this fascinating approach to massage using acupressure points and gentle leaning in and working with a clients breath to be very powerful.
After moving to Byron Bay in Northern NSW in 1993 Brandon worked at Samadhi's Natural Health Centre and was fortunate to be able to do many massage swaps with many of the massage therapists and other natural health practitioners in Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. He was influenced by practitioners such as Carole Starr who was using breathe work to facilitate emotional releases, as well as being influenced by massage therapists who were combining deep tissue massage with acupuncture and acupressure points to achieve a high level of deep muscle tension relief in their clients.
By the time Brandon finished his Naturopathy Diploma in 1994 ( by correspondence with Health Schools Australia) he was well on his way to developing his own style of massage therapy.
Brandon continued his studies, specializing in Oriental and Ayurvedic Medicine (from India), completing his Diplomas in Chinese Herbal medicine in 1995 and his Diploma of Ayurvedic Medicine a couple of years later. His knowledge of oriental medicine helped him to see the body in a different light and understand much more about the subtleties of the life energy or what has been called "chi" in Chinese Medicine or "prana" in Ayurvedic Medicine.
Soon he was using this knowledge of the subtle body in combination with the breathe work that Carol had shown him and the deep massage techniques he had learnt in Byron Bay, to be able to do a very powerful massage treatment. Some people compared it to Rolfing, a style of very deep massage popular in America, but it was very unique in its emphasis on acupressure points, breathing and the importance of abdominal massage. By 1995 Brandon was teaching shiatsu massage courses in Byron Bay.
Brandon also learned through his many years of study that doing a good massage is actually quite simple. While recognizing that some theoretical knowledge can be useful, giving a good massage didn't involve rote learning Latin or Greek muscle names, and spending endless hours learning all sorts of theory.
Brandon discovered that what really made a good massage therapist was the ability to release tension. This involved getting a good feel for massage and also understanding how muscle tension is interconnected in the human body. His knowledge of Eastern Medicine helped him to understand this better.
For example a person could have tight feet and this would then make their legs tight, which would make their hips tight, which would make their back tight, which would make their neck tight and hence would cause them headaches.
There were many different relationships within the human body that Brandon, and other therapists had figured out and he believed that these were the most important things to teach people who wanted to learn massage.
Therefore when Brandon had his clients ask him where they could learn massage like that at a massage course in Sydney he said he could teach them to be excellent therapists in just 4 days, because he would cut through all the unnecessary knowledge that you would never use that was being taught at many massage schools in Sydney and across the world and only teach his students the distilled essence of his many years of experience.
This was the start of Brandon Raynor's School of Natural Therapies. His massage courses in Sydney soon proved so popular that he was teaching in many locations throughout Australia and by 2002 had expanded to start holding massage courses in the UK and massage courses in the USA.
He now has trained several of his students to teach his massage courses Sydney and in the rest of Australia and the massage courses, are held worldwide in 25 cities in 12 different countries.
He changed his massage courses to make them slightly longer by changing it to a Massage Certificate Course and an extended course that includes reflexology, aromatherapy and more time to practice as his Massage Diploma Course.
These two massage courses may be useful for those wanting to get
Australian Government qualifications. Once a student completes the training
with us, the student can then apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL
or credits) towards a Government Accredited Australian Massage
qualification. Therefore, Recognition of Prior Learning for
the practical aspects of that course will be considered. Many students with
previous health qualifications may also be
exempt from further subjects and be able to receive a Government accredited
IV quicker after completing our course.
If a student completes our Diploma of Raynor Massage they may gain further
recognition of prior learning. In addition, if you are already a nurse or
other health practitioner, you may be exempt from further subjects. The combination
course gives a student a more rounded education in the area of massage
practice. If you go on to complete Government accredited qualifications, you
then can apply for health fund rebates for your clients.
By gaining Government accreditation, it may open more doors for you to work
around the world. For example, Brandon can practice in Hawaii using his
Australian Government Accredited Diploma of Remedial Massage.
Brandon now lives between Sydney, Melbourne and Makaha, Hawaii
where he is setting up a worldwide massage retreat training centre,
while his teachers continue teaching his massage courses in Melbourne
and other locations across the world. Brandon also travels regularly
around the world lecturing and giving Advanced Raynor massage classes.
He will be holding an Advanced Massage Diploma Course in Perth and
Sydney in 2010 and in Melbourne in early 2011.
He is now also holding an Advanced Massage Diploma Course in Melbourne in many places around the world.
